Squish: Video Compressor · Last updated: 8 June 2026

The short version: Squish compresses your videos entirely on your phone. The videos you pick and the compressed files you create stay on your device, are never uploaded, and we never see them. There is no account to create. The only data anyone receives is anonymous crash and usage information that helps us keep the app working, plus the subscription details needed to process a purchase.

Who we are

This app is operated by OnIT Tech Pty Ltd (ABN 71 670 099 395), trading as Mental Metal ("we", "us"). If you have any questions about this policy or your privacy, contact us at support@mentalmetal.app.

Your videos stay only on your device

The videos you select, and the compressed files Squish creates from them, are read and written locally on your phone. Compression happens on-device. Your videos are not collected by us, not transmitted off your device, and not stored on any server. You do not create an account, and we cannot access your videos or their contents.

When Squish saves a compressed video, it keeps the original's date and location metadata so the result behaves like the source. Because everything lives on your device, you stay in control of it: the compressed files appear in your library like any other video, and deleting the app removes its locally stored history.

Information that is collected

To keep the app stable and understand how it is used, a small amount of anonymous information is processed by the trusted services below. None of it includes your videos, their contents, or their file names, and none of it identifies you personally.

ServiceWhat it processesWhy
Sentry (crash reporting) Diagnostic data when the app crashes or errors: device model, operating system version, app version, and the technical stack trace. Configured so that no video data, file paths, or media are ever included. To detect and fix crashes and bugs.
Aptabase (usage analytics) Anonymous, aggregated usage events (for example, that the app was opened or that a video was compressed). No names, no accounts, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking across other apps or websites. To understand which features are used so we can improve the app.
RevenueCat + Apple / Google If you buy Squish Pro: your purchase status, an anonymous app-assigned identifier, and purchase/receipt information. Payment itself is handled by Apple or Google, so we never see your card details. To process and restore your purchase.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies: Sentry, Aptabase, RevenueCat, Apple, and Google. As these are global services, the limited data described above may be processed on servers outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union.

What we never do

We do not sell your data. We never upload your videos or share them with anyone. We do not show advertising, and we do not use advertising or cross-app tracking identifiers.

Your rights and choices

Because your videos live only on your device, you are in direct control of them: you can delete the compressed files from your library, and clear your in-app history at any time. For the anonymous diagnostic and usage data, and for purchase data held by our providers, you may contact us at support@mentalmetal.app to ask about access or deletion. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the Australian Privacy Act, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA); we will honour applicable requests.

Children

This app is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
